Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a Somatic Sex Education session?

Every session is unique because every body, story and intention is unique.

Sessions may include conversation, guided reflection, movement, breathwork, body awareness practices, communication exercises, nervous system education, touch work and other embodied learning practices.

Together, we explore what supports you in developing a deeper relationship with your body, desires, boundaries, pleasure and capacity for connection.

Is this therapy?

No.

Somatic Sex Education is an educational modality rather than a therapeutic one.

While our work together may be meaningful, emotional or transformative, I do not provide psychotherapy, diagnose mental health conditions or offer clinical treatment.

Instead, I focus on embodied learning, skill-building and supporting you in developing greater awareness, choice and agency.

Is this coaching?

Not exactly.

While there may be overlap with coaching, Somatic Sex Education places a strong emphasis on experiential learning and direct relationship with the body.

Rather than only talking about change, we practice it through embodied exercises and exploration.

Do I need to be interested in sex to benefit from this work?

Not at all.

While sexuality may be one area of exploration, many people come to this work because they want a deeper relationship with their bodies, emotions, desires, boundaries, confidence, pleasure, creativity or capacity for connection.

This work is as much about aliveness as it is about sexuality.

What if I feel disconnected from my body?

You are not alone.

Many of us have learned to disconnect from sensation as a way of surviving within systems that ask us to override our needs, instincts and desires.

You do not need to be "good" at embodiment to begin.

In fact, many people arrive because they want support reconnecting.

We start where you are.

Is this work queer and trans affirming?

Absolutely!

My work is rooted in supporting queer, trans and gender-expansive people in cultivating greater agency, embodiment, pleasure and belonging.

People of all genders, sexualities and relationship structures are welcome, and I hold a particular commitment to creating spaces where queer and trans folks can show up more fully as themselves.

What kinds of things do people bring to sessions?

People often come wanting support around:

✺ Pleasure and sensation

✺ Desire and erotic exploration

✺ Boundaries and consent

✺ Shame and self-acceptance

✺ Intimacy and communication

✺ Confidence and self-expression

✺ Queerness, gender and identity

✺ Reconnecting with their bodies

✺ Moving beyond performance and people-pleasing

✺ Cultivating a greater sense of aliveness
